The Visions (Joel 2:28; Proverbs 29:18).

What is a Vision?

Seeing something specific that inspires or motivates to build up lives, and gives direction for life and work.

Seeing is two-fold: with naked eye seeing something. And with spiritual eyes. i.e. impressions in the heart. Having a strong feeling, pull towards a particular thing.

Something you visualize happening and it encourages you to accomplish it. It can also be a special revelation given by God to His people. When there is no vision given, people have no direction, purpose to live or do anything.

e.g. During the time of Samuel, the glory of God departed from Israelites. There was no vision from God, to even the High Priest Eli. But God spoke to boy Samuel and revealed His plans. 1Samuel 3:1.

King Saul received no answer from God for his prayers. Later on he faced God's judgement for God forsook him. 1Sam.28:6.

Prophets at that time had no vision- they were in spiritual destitution because God forsook them by not speaking to or through them. Jeremaiah 2:9; Micah 3:6.

So, the vision speaks of God's continued communication with His Prophets and people. When that is broken, there is no way people can survive!

Now, when we think of why God spoke or gave visions and what happened due to those visions, we come the

Kinds of Visions:

1. Prophetic Visions: Isaiah 1:1; 21:2; Dan. 8:1; 9:23-27; Ezekiel 11:24; Matthew 17:9.

2. Comforting Visions: Job 42:5; Acts 7: 55.

3. Encouraging Visions: Genesis 15:1; Acts 18:9,10; 23:11.

4. Strengthening Visions: 2Kings 6:17; Psalm 34:5.

5. Communicating Visions: Luke 24:23; Acts 1: 10.

6. Converting Visions: Acts 9:10.

7. Commanding Visions: Acts 10:3.

8. Convicting Visions: Acts 10: 11; 11:5.

9. Guiding Visions: Genesis 46:25.

10. Directing Visions: Acts 16: 9,10.

11. Warning Visions: Isaiah 21: 2-6.

12. Motivating Visions: Acts 26: 19,20.

13. Judgement Visions: Isaiah 3:15-18.

14. Uniting Visions: Psalm 17:15.

15. Final or the Perfect Vision: John 17:24; 1Cor. 13:12; 1John 3:2; Rev. 22:4.

So what is your vision? What kind of Vision you need or want to recieve? How to get that vision?

The begining is by Praying.( Acts 22:17-18 ). Start praying earnestly for a vision from God. Then you will never be the same again. Your life becomes more useful, purposeful, effective and a blessing to others. Amen!

"Where there is no vision, people perish". Proverbs 29:18.
